YouTube censors Candace Owens' channel over transgender content: According to a YouTube spokesperson, the platform "removed content from the Candace Owens Podcast channel and issued a strike for violating [its] hate speech and harassment policies, which apply equally to all creators on [its] platform. As a result of these actions, the channel is temporarily suspended from uploading content to YouTube for one week." Owens, a conservative commentator on The Daily Wire, confirmed her channel's suspension, as did the media outlet's co-CEO Jeremy Boreing. The YouTube spokesperson, responding to a request for comment by Media Research Center Free Speech America, provided examples of content that would fall under its hate speech policy, such as assertions that members of the LGBTQ+ community are taking actions consistent with grooming children, or statements about a particular person that may contain what the platform considers to be a slur. Though it is not clear exactly which videos led to the suspension, Owens mentioned in her Instagram video on the subject that she had recently highlighted the personal stories of people who had undergone gender re-assignment surgery and now regret it.
