Twitter censors Brian Brown for posting about the violence of the trans movement: Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), was locked out of his account for tweeting against the violence the transgender community promotes. According to a tweet and the purported screenshot that NOM posted, Brown tweeted in part, “Trans movement rhetoric encourages violence. Do you think I’m exaggerating? I had multiple death threats after Prop. 8. A guy who attacked me was charged with a felony and dismissed from Marines. People acted like it was open season on people advocating for real marriage. The…” Per the purported screenshot, Twitter instructed Brown to remove the tweet for “Violating one of our Rules.” Twitter Rules are meant to prevent a range of inappropriate content from “violent speech,” “gory,” or “adult content,” and “non-consensual nudity” to “platform manipulation and spam.” However, Twitter did not explain what particular content in Brown’s tweet violated its policies. At the time of writing, Brown’s account appeared to be unlocked. However, the disputed tweet was replaced with the message, “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules.” It is unclear whether Brown deleted the tweet himself or whether Twitter removed it. According to Twitter’s enforcement policy, “In the interim period between when Twitter takes enforcement action and the person removes the Tweet, we hide that Tweet from public view and will replace the original content with a notice stating that the Tweet is no longer available because it violated our Rules.” Typically the user must delete the tweet in order to unlock their account.
