Google viciously smeared a key Trump advisor while he was fighting to secure a potentially historic peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians and engaged in a high-stakes battle to reopen the federal government.

Google has been working overtime to send users to websites dripping with disdain for Stephen Miller, Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy. Google repeatedly elevated Miller’s Wikipedia page, which does not even pretend to be neutral. The search giant went on to promote the Southern Poverty Law Center’s far-left agitprop on Miller above even a White House link, while adding a side of unhinged media headlines.

Wikipedia appeared three times in a Google search on Thursday including displaying the link twice in its “knowledge panel” at the top of the page above the search results. And as if this wasn’t enough from the infamously biased online encyclopedia, Google also added a link to Miller’s Wikipedia page in the search results below.

And what information was Google so eager to share with its users?

In an article that reads more like an opinion column, Wikipedia editors wrote in the very second sentence of the first section, “His politics have been described as far-right, anti-immigration, and white nationalist.” The rest of the first section was filled with accusations, including that the leftist Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has labelled him an extremist.

Additionally, as of October 2, his page has 43 separate citations of a book titled “Hatemonger: Stephen Miller, Donald Trump, and the White Nationalist Agenda.”

In addition to Wikipedia, Google included a link to the SPLC’s “extremist files” piece on Miller, the very article Wikipedia editors referenced on Miller’s page. The SPLC link appeared even above the first whitehouse.gov link concerning Miller.

In Google’s preview of the piece, the search engine highlighted SPLC’s claim that Miller is “credited with shaping the racist and draconian immigration policies of President Trump.” The SPLC page further claimed he has an “extremist agenda,” engages in “fearmongering” and “xenophobia,” and promotes white nationalism.

But Google didn’t just elevate the SPLC and Wikipedia. The search giant also peppered in leftist coverage of Miller, without a single right-of-center article to balance things out.

Amongst its “Top stories” about Miller, Google fished out from complete obscurity the leftist website emptywheel.com, which ran the headline: “Stephen Miller Implies He Intended for Trump’s Nutjobs to Kill Democrats.”

In response to the search behemoth’s overwhelming indulgence of leftist ravings, MRC Free Speech America VP Dan Schneider said, "It’s obvious to me that Google is scraping the internet to dredge up whatever shameless websites will lob these false and vicious attacks against Stephen Miller. Why? Google is falling in line with recent Democrat attacks and trying to derail an effective member in the Trump administration and undermine Trump’s prospects for achieving Middle East peace and a good outcome for America at home.”

For example, the emptywheel.com blog called Miller a “fascist,” claimed he had confessed to “stochastic terrorism” (a term the left has long used to portray speech as violence). It even claimed that Miller, who is Jewish, copied a speech from Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

Google additionally propped up the radical publication, The Daily Beast, which proclaimed in its headline, “Stephen Miller Shouts Unhinged Message to Gun-Wielding Cops.” Google also included an MSNBC op-ed and an article from The Guardian claiming Miller was a racist and a race-baiter. The Guardian article even cited the SPLC for some of its vicious attacks on Miller.

Methodology: On October 2, 2025, MRC researchers utilized Google Search, searching for the terms “Stephen Miller.” MRC Researchers conducted the search using the Brave web browser and a VPN to minimize the impacts of past searches and cookies. MRC researchers then analyzed the results for apparent bias.
