At the fourth Republican presidential debate, presidential candidate Nikki Haley called for a TikTok ban citing rampant antisemitism on the app.

Governor Ron DeSantis, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Governor Chris Christie faced off in the fourth Republican presidential debate Wednesday. When Haley was asked about how America should address antisemitism on college campuses, the former South Carolina governor pointed to TikTok as a crucial part of the problem.

“We really do need to ban TikTok once and for all and let me tell you why. For every 30 minutes that someone watches TikTok, everyday they become 17 percent more anti-semitic, more pro-Hamas based on doing that,” Haley said citing a Generation Labs survey promoted by machine learning expert Anthony Goldbloom.

Haley continued saying “[w]e now know that 50 percent of adults 18-25 think that Hamas was warranted in what they did with Israel. That's a problem.”

The republican presidential candidate was referring to a Harvard/Harris poll which found that 76 percent of Americans believe that Hamas’ terror attacks on Israel were not justified.” However, the results among young people–the primary demographic using TikTok– are starkly different. The Harvard/Harris poll found that a staggering 51 percent  of Americans 18 to 24 believed that the brutal terror attacks of Oct. 7 “can be justified by the grievances of Palestinians.”

Others have reported massive amounts of anti-Israel content on Tiktok. For example, from October 16th to October 30th after the Hamas terrorist attack, Axios reported that “there have been nearly four times the number of views to TikTok posts using the hashtag #StandwithPalestine globally compared to posts using the hashtag #StandwithIsrael.”

Beyond the spread of anti-Israel and pro-Hamas messages across TikTok, the communist Chinese government-tied app has also come under fire for the spread of support for dead terrorist Osama Bin Laden on the platform.
