An explosive Senate hearing that uncovered Meta’s alleged cozy relationship with the Chinese Communist Party sparked some justified ire on X.At a Wednesday hearing before the Senate Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism, Sarah Wynn-Williams, a former director of global public policy at Meta, accused Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg of creating censorship tools for the CCP and briefing Chinese officials on its artificial intelligence model. The shocking allegations sparked reactions from many across the internet, including Christian thought leader Eric Metaxas, journalist and former Fox News producer Kyle Becker, Social Media Freedom Foundation founder Jason Fyk and Freedom Train International founder Jim Ferguson.
Metaxas responded to a video posted by subcommittee chairman Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) in which Hawley revealed Facebook’s internal conversation about whether to comply with Chinese officials’ request to remove the account of a prominent Chinese dissident living in the U.S.
“If you choose money and power over truth and freedom, you are an enemy of truth and freedom -- and should be treated as such,” Metaxas wrote. “Zuckerberg and Facebook have done tremendous evil and must answer for it.”

During the hearing, Hawley and Wynn-Williams repeatedly accused Meta and Zuckerberg of being dishonest and prioritizing profit over American national interests. For example, they alleged that Meta claims it does not do business in China, yet it briefs CCP officials on its AI developments, even as the U.S. is in an AI race with its adversary, China. Becker and Fyke zeroed in on Meta’s disturbing priorities.
“This is why Mark Zuckerberg was kissing up to Trump after the election,” said Becker. “Meta is a foreign influence op.”

Fyk, whose business was destroyed by Facebook censorship and even sued the company, stated, “I've been saying it for years. Facebook and Zuckerberg are the biggest liars ever. They don't just need to be sued into bankruptcy, they need to go to jail for treason.”
Meta was also accused of failing to do the utmost to protect user data. During the hearing, Wynn-Williams explained that for Meta’s technologies to work most efficiently, the company needed localized servers that could not fully separate the data of Americans from Chinese data. Ferguson further highlighted this point, noting that this concern is not merely relevant to Americans
“META — Facebook’s parent company — GAVE THE CCP ACCESS to American user data. Not hacked. Not stolen. GIVEN,” Ferguson wrote, calling it a “TREASONOUS BETRAYAL.” He added, “Zuckerberg let the Chinese Communist Party snoop on YOUR private info. Messages. Photos. Locations. Connections. All sitting on servers China could access. BUT ASK YOURSELF: If Zuckerberg did this in AMERICA... What about BRITAIN? What about EUROPE? What about AUSTRALIA, CANADA, NEW ZEALAND? Did global governments sign off? Or were their citizens sold out too?”
