Podcast host and Blaze Media founder Glenn Beck and Propaganda Wars author Justin Haskins called out the United Nations over the newly adopted Global Digital Compact (GDC), a Soviet Union-style agreement to restrict online free speech.

Beck and Haskin discussed on Thursday the UN’s Summit of the Future agenda and expansion of the organization's ability to restrict free speech globally through the GDC. “They want to create all kinds of different collaborations with the media, with big tech companies to control the internet for misinformation, disinformation, hate speech, etcetera,” Haskins warned, affirming that the compact reads like something taken out of the Soviet Union.

Haskins explained that the GDC aims to “to dramatically increase global governance of artificial intelligence.” Haskins continued to share the UN’s goal of creating new “organizations,” one of which is the Global Dialogue on AI governance program. Additionally, the UN is pressing for more collaboration with Big Tech.

Haskins went on to characterize the motive behind these efforts as being “designed to embed artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies with leftwing social justice goals. They’re very clear about that in the document.”

Haskins added, “This is probably the largest propaganda effort the UN is about to launch, the largest propaganda effort, I think, in modern history.”

He went on to give an example of the censorship called for in the recently passed agreement, he read from the agreement:

“Provide, promote, and facilitate access to and dissemination of independent and fact-based timely targeted clear accessible multilingual and science-based information to counter mis and disinformation, strengthening independent and public media and supporting journalist and media workers.”

Haskins continued to describe the ramifications of this agreement, explaining: “So what we’re talking about is creating fact-checking apparatus at the United Nations.”

Haskins summarized the point of the agreement as follows: “Get everybody off the internet that the United Nations doesn’t like, to silence people who are not going along with it, and create a vast propaganda network.”

In response, Beck rebuked the UN concepts as “crazy,” before ending on a relatively positive note. “The only one that is standing in the way of the global effort to shut voices down, the only one with any real clout is Elon Musk. That’s one man, against the world.” he said, praising Musk for his approach to free speech.
