Years after the Media Research Center exposed Soros-tied Jennifer Daskal and the Disinformation Governance Board collapsed, the would-be censor could be advising a powerful court.
Daskal has been tapped to advise the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) and Court of Review after the presiding judges appointed her at the start of this month to be an amicus curiae advisor, the Washington Free Beacon reported. Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) condemned the appointment of Daskal as “[i]nsane” due to her previous role in the Biden administration’s now-defunct “Ministry of Truth.” Furthermore, MRC exclusively exposed in 2022 how Daskal donated to President Joe Biden before she joined his censorship board, as well as her multiple ties to billionaire George Soros.
Schmitt posted his reaction to Daskal’s appointment Feb. 17, along with a clip of him grilling Daskal for her “Orwellian” censorship efforts at the DGB. “The presiding judges of the FISA Court just appointed Jennifer Daskal to advise the secretive court. She helped create the Biden Admin’s Disinformation Governance Board,” Schmitt wrote. “Insane. Yet another reason for reform.”
Indeed, in May 2022, MRC identified three connections between anti-free speech billionaire Soros and Daskal. She previously served as an Open Society Institute fellow “working on issues related to privacy and law enforcement access to data across borders.” Besides that direct involvement with Soros’s organization, Daskal also served as senior counterterrorism counsel for the anti-Semitic Human Rights Watch. HRW received at least $32,106,746 from Soros between 2000 and 2014. To top it off, Daskal was a founding editor of the Just Security blog, which Soros’s Open Society Foundations (OSF) gave $675,000 between 2017 and 2019.
Aside from the Soros connection, MRC also found in 2022 that Daskal was a donor to President Joe Biden, based on Federal Election Commission records that showed she donated at least $1,150 to Biden's campaign and $950 to the Biden Victory Fund during the 2020 electoral cycle.
The DGB was one of the most blatant and egregious of the 57 Biden censorship initiatives exposed by MRC in its bombshell report: “The Biden Administration Waged War on Free Speech with 57 Censorship Initiatives.” Under then-Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) briefly established a ministry of truth it named the “Disinformation Governance Board.” The DGB aimed to orchestrate censorship activities for DHS and pressure Big Tech platforms into restricting or silencing free speech on topics of which the administration disapproved.
Joining Daskal was none other than the “Mary Poppins of disinformation” Nina Jankowicz, a censorship activist and vocal advocate for crushing reporting on the 2020 Biden laptop scandal, led the board.
