Google keeps expanding the scope of its artificial intelligence despite facing mounting criticism for its anti-free speech and biased programming.

Google proudly released on Nov. 4 a roundup of its many AI announcements from October, including Gemini 2.5 Computer Use, Google Earth AI updates and Gemini Enterprise, a workplace version of the controversial chatbot. The tech giant also has a new deal with Apple that could give it a virtual AI monopoly.

Yet Google’s tone-deaf statement and its lucrative new Apple deal ignore any acknowledgment or correction of its AI’s free speech failures, exposing just how misaligned the company’s priorities are. X owner Elon Musk, in fact, recently called out Google for embedding the “woke mind virus” in its AI.

Bloomberg reported Nov. 5 that Apple made a billion-dollar-a-year deal with Google to have Google AI power the new Siri. Google AI will be used to rebuild the underlying technology of Siri and to power new features. This extends Google’s AI even farther, raising serious questions about its power to control speech and information online.

The Gemini 2.5 Computer Use model is now “available via the Gemini API and lets AI agents interact directly with user interfaces. Built on Gemini 2.5 Pro, it handles complex tasks like navigating websites.” The roundup also described AI for use in cybersecurity, educational and medical contexts and Gemini for the new Samsung Galaxy XR headset.

But Gemini has repeatedly raised concerns with its woke programming. For example, Google’s first Gemini model generated historically inaccurate images of America’s Founding Fathers as black men and women, and female popes.

Just before Independence Day, Gemini told MRC researchers that the patriotic holiday can be “offensive.” In October 2024, the AI refused to define the terror group Hezbollah clearly and even provided arguments to view it positively.

Even more shocking, filmmaker and podcast host Robby Starbuck sued Google last month, accusing its Gemini and Gemma AI of generating “fake criminal allegations including sexual assault, child rape, abuse, fraud, stalking, drug charges, and even saying I was in Epstein’s flight logs.”
