The Center for Countering Digital Hate has a long and shameful history of targeting free speech, and its chief executive could soon be deported as a result.

The U.K. Telegraph reported on Nov. 9 that Imran Ahmed, CEO for the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), is facing visa revocation and possibly deportation as part of a Trump administration crackdown utilizing Global Magnitsky Sanctions on anti-free speech foreign visa holders. Rep. Jim Jordan’s (R-OH) Facebook Files revealed how CCDH fed deceptive claims to the Biden White House to fuel COVID-19 censorship, and CCDH specifically targeted MRC for climate content.

The Telegraph cited an unnamed source that claimed the White House is seriously considering revoking Ahmed‘s visa privileges. “They want to send a message that they’re not having it. They’re not happy. They are very actively considering visa restrictions on him,” the source reportedly said.

The Global Magnitsky Sanctions, as Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained when imposing sanctions on Brazilian Justice Alexandre de Moraes, allow the federal government to sanction foreign individuals and entities such as Ahmed.

MRC Founder and President Emeritus Brent Bozell labeled Ahmed’s group “digital brownshirts” for its many censorship activities. Back in July 2021, former White House press secretary Jen Psaki used a CCDH report, the “Disinformation Dozen,” to demand increased COVID-19 censorship from Big Tech. CCDH put MRC among its climate “Toxic Ten” in a 2022 report.

Then, in 2024, CCDH issued a report insisting that YouTube “demonetize” and “de-amplify” non-climate alarmist content. CNN used CCDH to make similar demands of Big Tech about pro-life centers, after the anti-free speech group pushed Google to suppress the centers by claiming they are “anti-abortion fake clinics.” That same year, independent journalists Paul D. Thacker and Matt Taibbi obtained leaked memos exposing how CCDH had a disturbing goal among its top priorities: “Kill Musk’s Twitter.” Taibbi previously accused CCDH of falsely claiming charitable tax-exempt status from the IRS.

Ahead of the 2024 election, America First Legal obtained documents showing that the Biden White House also “partnered with” the CCDH as part of its strategy to censor alleged “domestic terrorism.”
