Wikipedia added yet more critical language to assassinated Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk’s page days before his posthumous reception of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Wikipedia already infamously added an accusation of “misinformation” to Kirk’s write-up on the day he was killed. Now, one of the opening paragraphs of Kirk‘s Wikipedia page is even more insulting and accusatory toward Kirk, with editors altering the propaganda to add racial and anti-Christian language between Oct. 3 and 10. President Donald Trump on Tuesday awarded Kirk posthumously America’s highest civilian honor.

On Oct. 10, a Wikipedia editor altered the introduction to Charlie Kirk’s page with numerous edits framing Kirk more negatively. Among the phrases adjusted were “opposition” to abortion, gun control, DEI programs and “LGBTQ rights.” The editor accused Kirk of spreading a “white genocide conspiracy theory,” “false claims [of] electoral fraud,” “COVID-19 misinformation” and “Christian nationalism.” Wikipedia mischaracterized Kirk’s comments on the  Civil Rights Act and Martin Luther King Jr., too.

While some of these critiques had already been added, the edits expanded the list of critiques and added even more condemnatory language. For example, Wayback Machine shows that on Oct. 3, the paragraph claimed Kirk pushed the “Great Replacement conspiracy theory.” It now says “white genocide conspiracy theory.”

Since Oct. 3, Wikipedia also added a sentence that claims Kirk “aligned with the Christian right and began advocating for Christian nationalism.” And whereas on Oct. 3, Wikipedia labeled opposition to abortion, etc. as “Trumpist,” it now more comprehensively labels them “conservative” stances.

The highly biased paragraph from Wikipedia’s intro on Kirk now claims:

“Born and raised in the Chicago suburbs of Arlington Heights and Prospect Heights, Kirk became politically active in high school. He dropped out of college after one semester to focus on building Turning Point USA, which grew to encompass several affiliate groups, including Turning Point Action and Turning Point Faith. He espoused a variety of conservative stances, including opposition to abortion, gun control, DEI programs, and LGBTQ rights. Over time, he became aligned with the Christian right and began advocating for Christian nationalism. His more controversial views included his criticism of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Martin Luther King Jr., as well as his promotion of COVID-19 misinformation, false claims of electoral fraud in 2020, and the white genocide conspiracy theory.”

MRC already revealed earlier this year that Wikipedia effectively blacklists all right-leaning media, but the perpetual name-calling and negative framing of Kirk highlights the depth of the online encyclopedia’s bias. Why is Wikipedia still so obsessed with rewriting propaganda to blacken Kirk’s reputation?
