Federal bureaucrats who spent years targeting Americans’ free speech are now full of consternation as the Trump administration restores the First Amendment.

WIRED hysterically claimed on Thursday that “people are scared” at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), accusing the Trump administration of putting America in danger by firing officials and supposedly “poison[ing] their partnerships.” But this round of the administration’s cuts included firing a team that was wrongfully coordinating election censorship in collusion with social media companies.

Deceptively, WIRED wailed that “vital support staff are gone … and workers are afraid to discuss threats to democracy that they’re now prohibited from countering.” The outlet then linked to a second article it wrote in February which specifically condemned the Trump administration’s pause and review of "every position at the agency related to election security and countering mis- and disinformation.”

Buzzwords like misinformation and disinformation are often leftist doublespeak for coordinating the censorship of opinions with which the officials disagree. The Twitter Files and the landmark Murthy v. Missouri lawsuit exposed CISA for repeatedly orchestrating censorship of election content with Big Tech.

The leftist outlet warned of the fact that CISA, which it said has grown significantly in the last few years, is now being downsized. WIRED frankly admitted that CISA coordinated with state governments, private entities, and even foreign entities, and complained that three of the top individuals involved in communicating with tech companies have been fired.

The artificial intelligence office that communicated with foreign governments and private companies has been shut down too, as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) investigates the agency, much to WIRED’s and CISA’s chagrin.

Nor is the Trump administration alone in holding government censors to account. Alliance Defending Freedom this week announced it filed a Freedom of Information Act request for any documents pertaining to the largely defunct U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and any “counter-disinformation” efforts, including the development of censorship tools.

Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on so-called “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives. If you have been censored, contact us using MRC Free Speech America’s contact form, and help us hold Big Tech accountable.
