Tech behemoth Google is apparently changing its products to appease President Donald Trump—after aggressively working to sway the 2024 election against him.

Just six months ago, Google was manipulating its search results to give Democrat Joe Biden and later Vice President Kamala Harris an edge over Trump in the 2024 election.  But in the last five weeks the company has donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund and had its CEO attend the Jan. 20 inauguration. Following Trump’s victory, the tech giant has also continued tweaking its products to resemble the Trump policy shift.

For instance, after Trump declared the Gulf of Mexico would now officially be referred to as the Gulf of America, Google Maps updated the name for U.S. users. But this wasn’t the only shift.

The Washington Times reported that Google also notably no longer highlights the starts of "Black History Month" and "Women's History Month" on its calendar. Even more significantly, LGBTQ “Pride Month” (June) is also no longer highlighted, CNBC reported. Google, however, asserted in a blog Wednesday that this change does not reflect a change in values, claiming that the decision was made in the middle of last year “to simplify and show only public holidays and national observances from timeanddate.com.”

In case users were at all confused about Google’s priorities, the company added “As a company, we continue to celebrate and promote a variety of cultural moments across our products, visible to people everywhere — as you saw in the last few weeks with Black History Month and Lunar New Year.”

Another stunning change is that Google Search no longer allows autocomplete suggestions for “impeach Trump,” as reported by TIME. MRC found that typing enough letters of Trump’s last name might still trigger the suggestion “impeach trump for pardons.”

Before all these changes, Google topped MRC Free Speech America’s list of worst censors of 2024, suppressing search suggestions about the July Trump assassination attempt. In the six weeks leading up to the election, the search giant consistently favored overwhelmingly leftist sources regarding Trump and continued to target Trump nominees into January.

Given Google's long history of leftist bias, critics may question whether these changes signal a real shift—or just an attempt to stay in Trump’s good graces for the next four years.
