Three major medical organizations just called on Big Tech platforms to censor, and the Justice Department to prosecute, social media users who object to so-called “gender-affirming care” for children.

The American Medical Association (AMA), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) called on Big Tech and the Justice Department (DOJ) to censor and target Americans who oppose radical “gender” surgeries for minors, according to a letter that the organizations sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The groups cloaked the real target of the letter until more than halfway through, writing: “Providers of evidence-based gender-affirming health care and their colleagues are facing increased stress and fear.” AMA, AAP and CHA later conclude, “We stand with … health care professionals providing evidence-based health care, including gender-affirming care, to children and adolescents.”

“BREAKING: The American Medical Association is asking Big Tech and the Department of Justice to censor, deplatform, investigate, and prosecute journalists who question the orthodoxy of radical gender surgeries for minors, arguing that public criticism is ‘disinformation,’” City Journal contributing editor Christopher Rufo tweeted alongside screenshots of the letter.

He then laid out the left’s insidious plan. “This is now the Left's playbook: last year, the National School Board Association, Department of Justice, and F.B.I. worked together to label parents who opposed critical race theory ‘domestic terrorists,’” wrote Rufo in a tweet. “They want to stifle dissent, suppress speech, and criminalize opposition.”

The first few paragraphs of the letter appear cleverly to hide the underlying aims of the medical organizations to support so-called "gender affirming care" for minors and censor those who oppose it. The letter calls on DOJ to “investigate the organizations, individuals, and entities coordinating, provoking, and carrying out bomb threats and threats of personal violence against children’s hospitals and physicians across the U.S.”

But later in the letter, the medical groups suggested the Biden administration work alongside Big Tech companies in censoring Americans who believe radical sex-change surgeries for children are bad medicine.

The signers pointed the finger at “a few high-profile users on social media” who the three medical groups claim “share false and misleading information” on so-called “gender-affirming health care.” The three medical groups wrote that they “have called on technology companies to do more to prevent this practice on digital platforms, and we now urge your office to take swift action to investigate and prosecute all organizations, individuals, and entities responsible.”

The medical groups further claimed that the threats to medical professionals and hospitals stem from “an intentional campaign” of so-called “disinformation.” The letter did not provide evidence or citations to support these claims.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) tweeted about the letter, "If you’re a doctor & a member of the @AmerMedicalAssn RESIGN NOW. And demand your dues be refunded."
