Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) trashed Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for having the audacity to claim his platform has the objective truth on voter fraud.

Cruz raked Dorsey over the coals in the hearing, entitled “Breaking the News: Censorship, Suppression, and the 2020 Election,” featured testimony from Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Cruz blasted Dorsey for having “taken the political position right now that voter fraud doesn’t exist.” After months of Twitter infamously censoring conservatives for questioning whether mail-in ballots can lead to voter fraud, Cruz asked why Dorsey’s company was placing “purported warnings on virtually any statement about voter fraud.” Dorsey replied that Twitter was “simply linking to a broader conversation.” Cruz rejected this absurd premise completely:

“No, you’re not. You put up a page that says, ‘Voter fraud of any kind is exceedingly rare in the United States.’ That’s not linking to a broader conversation. That’s taking a disputed policy position, and you’re a publisher when you’re doing that. You’re entitled to take a policy position, but you don’t get to pretend you’re not a publisher and get a special benefit under Section 230 as a result.”

Cruz later cited statements from the Carter-Baker Commission on Federal Election Reform to demonstrate that voter fraud is a legitimate concern.

The timing for this hearing is fitting, considering Twitter and Facebook’s constant censorship of posts related to the election. Senate Republicans had been itching for another chance to confront Twitter and Facebook about the censorship of the New York Post story that claimed to expose alleged corrupt dealings of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden in Ukraine. A recent post-election poll conducted by MRC found that 36 percent of Biden voters were not aware of this story.
