Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has gone out of his way to alienate himself from conservatives in the name of social justice, and he has put his money where his mouth is to the tune of $3 million.
Dorsey pledged to make a massive donation to social justice causes on June 3. Dorsey made a $3 million pledge to former National Football League quarterback and activist Colin Kaepernick’s “Know Your Rights Camp.”
Kaepernick started a firestorm of controversy when he kneeled instead of standing for the U.S. National Anthem to protest police.
Kaepernick’s organization describes itself on Twitter as a “free campaign for youth funded by @kaepernick7 to raise awareness on self-empowerment & interacting with law enforcement[.] Do you know your rights?” Know Your Rights Camp’s stated mission “is to advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization and the creation of new systems that elevate the next generation of change leaders.”
Dorsey’s announcement nakedly revealed his far-left plunge into identity-driven politics:
“More #startsmall grants.
“$3mm to Colin @Kaepernick7’s @yourrightscamp to advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization to elevate the next generation of change leaders.”
Dorsey also made headlines when he reportedly unfollowed The New York Times after it published a much maligned op-ed by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AK) calling for the military to crack down on violent riots.
Amidst this heated election season, Dorsey has shown his true agenda. As a result, Twitter has quickly become one of the premier censorious left-wing tech companies and a bane of free speech advocates.
After fact-checking President Donald Trump for voicing concerns about mail-in ballots, Twitter fired another salvo at Trump for threatening to crack down on the violent riots which have torn apart several cities throughout the country.
Twitter placed an interstitial, or a filter, over the tweet with a warning label that said: “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.”
Despite making millions of dollars in the USA, Dorsey has allowed his platform to censor his own country’s sitting president, while allowing Iranian leaders to remain.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) sent an open letter to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of the Treasury to call for a criminal investigation into Twitter for violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and Executive Order 13876.
Cruz’s letter, in short, scorched Twitter leadership for allowing Iran’s tyrannical leaders to maintain Twitter accounts as a weapon against American politicians while their own citizens are now allowed to use the same social media platform:
“They use their accounts provided by Twitter to threaten and taunt their enemies real and imagined. In any event, Twitter’s corporate values and grave misapprehension of the threat that Khamenei and Zarif pose are irrelevant.”
