Vision Israel

Facebook rejects ad for Holocaust exhibit, claims it was a "mistake": Educational nonprofit Vision Israel created an event on Facebook promoting a Holocaust exhibit that it was sponsoring called "Shoah: How Was It Humanly Possible?" The group then attempted to pay Facebook to promote the event that was to be presented the weekend following the anniversary of D-Day. However, according to a screenshot provided by the group, the ad was rejected, and even after Vision Israel appealed to Facebook, the platform rejected the ad again. The Lion reported that the platform's second rejection notice stated that the ad "may have been rejected because it mentions politicians or is about sensitive social issues that could influence public opinion, how people vote and may impact the outcome of an election or pending legislation." Dwight Widaman, co-founder of Vision Israel, explained that the exhibit was "basically the historical aspect of antisemitism, and how it led to the Holocaust," and did not "go into anything current or political." MRC Free Speech America reached out to Facebook for more information on this case and was told by a Meta spokesperson that "This ad was incorrectly disabled and we apologize for the mistake."
