Social network dubbed 'Tinder for anti-vaxxers' gets the boot from Apple's app store: Unjected, an application launched this year by two women seeking to connect individuals unvaccinated against COVID-19 with other like-minded people in their communities, was removed from Apple's App Store "after being contacted by Bloomberg News." While initially approved by Apple, certain updates made by the application led the tech giant to block the app from being downloaded via its digital store. "Apple had originally denied Unjected during the initial review process and approved the app after it made changes to comply with Covid-19 policies, an Apple spokesperson said," Bloomberg reported. However, additional updates purportedly led Apple to renege on its initial approval. "[T]he developer has made statements externally to its users as well as updates to the app that once again bring it out of compliance," Apple reportedly said, according to Bloomberg. The Apple spokesperson also reportedly added that Unjected encouraged users to avoid using certain words to steer clear of detection. The Apple spokesperson reiterated that this was a violation of its policy and grounds for removal. Unjected was purportedly instructing those on its platform to use alternatives to words like "vaccine," "jab" or "microchip" in order to keep from being flagged by certain Big Tech algorithms, according to reports from liberal tech outlets like the Hindustan Times Tech News. "We’ve had to walk a censorship tightrope,” Unjected co-founder Shelby Thompson told Bloomberg. "We’re not trying to be harmful to society," said Thomson. "We just want to exercise our freedom of choice." Instagram also removed Unjected's primary account from its platform, according to the bio section of a new backup account created by the app. "The backup account to @the.unjected. Which was removed from insta unjustly at 25k," reads the backup account's bio. At the time this database entry was published the app was still available on Google's digital store for phone applications.
