Republican State Senator from Virginia kicked off Facebook for good: Virginia Rep. Amanda Chase, who is campaigning to be the Republican nominee in the 2021 Governor's race, said that her Facebook account's temporary suspension has now turned into a permanent ban. Chase's account was initially given a 60-day suspension after she made several posts about the Jan. 6 events at the Capitol, which Facebook deemed as "false information." However, more than 60 days later and Chase's account remains suspended. "Facebook has officially denied my request to reinstate my ‘Senator Amanda Chase’ Facebook page, disenfranchising 144k of my supporters and all of my constituents,” said Chase in a statement according to the Virginia Scope. “Facebook has been such a cost-effective way to consistently communicate and reach out and be accessible to those with whom I represent,” Chase told the Virginia Scope according to Reclaim The Net. Chase added that Facebook hadn’t told her why the page was banned and only provided a generic statement pointing to its community standards. Chase is the latest of several Republican politicians to have their pages and accounts shut down by Big Tech over the last year. Idaho Congressman Chad Christensen, Senator Doug Mastriano, and former-President Trump have also had their accounts banned.
