Vimeo deletes video from conservative radio host Pastor Greg Young from its platform: Big Tech platform Vimeo has deleted one of Pastor Greg Young's videos titled "Dr Judy Mikovits Dr Brian Hooker Todd Bensman Traci Fenton With Pastor Greg." Young received a notice of deletion on Feb. 26, 2022. The platform targeted Young and accused him of posting "false or misleading claims about (1) vaccination safety, or (2) health-related information that has a serious potential to cause public harm."
Young slammed the censorship in an email exchange with the platform shared with MRC Free Speech America. Specifically addressing the censorship of another episode, "Dr Judy Mikovits Dr Brian Hooker Todd Bensman Traci Fenton With Pastor Greg," which was allegedly removed for "false or misleading claims about (1) vaccination safety, or (2) health-related information, Young pointed out the following: "There is no information in this video that matches that description. If you believe that there is then please send me the video and show me where there is a statement matching your description. I have separated out the interviews and listened again and I find nothing matching your accusations." He noted that there were only three instances where vaccines were mentioned, but only with regards to comments given by experts like chemist Dr. Brian Hooker and virologist Dr. Judy Mikovits, in addition to sworn testimony given to Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) during the "COVID-19: A Second Opinion" panel in Congress regarding the alleged doctoring of data on the side effects of COVID-19 vaccines by the Department of Defense. Young summarized: "Now let me be clear. Number one, these are the only instances that there is a mention of the vaccines. Number two, there are no statements not backed up by either proven facts, research or affidavits. Number three, this statement you have made about my program I find defamatory."
Vimeo eventually terminated Young's account altogether. Young excoriated the platform in response: "I demand a refund of the money you took from me or to restore my account. You erased my testimony and sermons for people in India. Do you understand the damage you just did?" The platform gave the following response in the email exchange: "[Y]our account was terminated for repeated violations of Vimeo's Terms of Service." Young retorted that the termination was sudden:
"The first time I was made aware of a problem was on the 26th of February at 9:17 pm by email. Vimeo pulled a video down on Monday and then another at 4:02 PM today. My response to the first issue was sent on Monday at the same time Vimeo pulled the second video. You and I started our dialogue today and it appears that by responding and making a logical argument my 'punishment' is the erasure of my videos."
Vimeo claimed Young "missed some of our messages" and said that the termination was "not the result of a single removal that began on the 26th of February, or the result of your emails to our team, and I apologize for that misunderstanding." It continued: "In addition to the strikes mentioned previously, we also sent removal notifications on February 16th of 2021 and December 3rd of 2021 for violations that had been removed in accordance with our Terms of Service (vimeo.com/terms) and Community Guidelines."
Throughout the email exchange, Vimeo just repeatedly referenced their policies and wouldn't be specific about what content exactly in Young's videos violated its "Community Guidelines." Vimeo concluded by just dubiously dismissing Young's challenges to produce specific evidence: "As this is our final decision we will be unable to correspond further, but we hope you find a host better suited to your content in the future." Young challenged Vimeo to a debate with the experts he hosts on his radio show: "I will close with this challenge. Have Vimeo's censors debate my experts on the basis of their claims that are their reason for banning me. Lets at least see if what you have accused me of doing has any actual basis in fact. So far you have offered up no facts to support your assertions."
