New York Post

Google suppresses news from right-leaning outlets: Multiple MRC Free Speech America (MRCFSA) studies have exposed how Google has suppressed right-leaning websites in search. Statista tracks the number of user visits leading news websites receive. New York Post is consistently one of the top news sites on its report. AllSides.com lists New York Post as a media outlet having a political bias on the right. MRCFSA researchers conducted a Google search for people named by President-elect Donald Trump to fill various positions in his administration. The research included a search for "Lee Zeldin," Trump's nominee to lead the Environmental Protection Agency, on Nov. 19, 2024. The first page of search results that Google displayed did not include a story from New York Post. Results on the first page only displayed news outlets with a left-leaning or leftist political bias.

Search engine optimization blog Backlinko reported that "The #1 Result In Google Gets 27.6% of All Clicks" and it has “10x higher [Click Through Rate] compared to the #10 result.” Astoundingly, less than one percent (.63%) of users click through to the second page of search results, underscoring the importance of positioning on the first page of search results. Other studies, like one conducted in 2020 by Sistrix, show similar results.
