Mike Yardley

Facebook inconsistently restricts user's accounts after sharing a Sky News Australia exclusive: Gun enthusiast Mike Yardley tweeted that Facebook restricted his public positiveshooting.com page after he posted a Sky News Australia video entitled "Chinese document discussing weaponizing coronaviruses provides 'chilling' information." Sky News reported that a Chinese scientific paper published in 2015 suggested the potential usefulness of manmade SARS coronaviruses in bioweaponry. Although the segment highlights several parts of the scientific paper, the Sky News reporter made very clear that "while intelligence agencies suspect... that Covid-19 may be the result of an accidental leak from a Wuhan lab, there's no suggestion that it was an intentional release." Facebook claimed the video went against its "Community Standards," deleted the post and, according to Yardley, restricted his ability to post or comment for three days. Facebook, however, allowed him to post the same video to his personal page, and other links to the same video continue to circulate on the platform.
