John Eastman

Banks close former Trump attorney John Eastman's accounts, won't reveal reason: According to reporting from The Daily Caller, John Eastman, a former lawyer for former President Donald Trump, was "de-banked" by both Bank of America and USAA within a short span at the end of 2023. Eastman infamously advised that former Vice-President Mike Pence had the ability to override the electoral college on January 6, 2021 to appoint Trump as president. While not verifiable, Eastman believes this to be the root of the decision by two banks to close his accounts. In September 2023, Bank of America, who he was using only sparsely for personal banking needs, alerted him that it was closing his accounts. When he sought a reason he was told it was the bank's policy not to reveal reasons, and not to re-consider its decisions. Two months later USAA, where he had moved most of his personal banking activity several years back in response to the "woke" turn at Bank of America, also informed him that it was closing his accounts. Neither Eastman nor The Daily Caller received an answer from either bank about why his accounts were being closed.
