Daily Mail

Google suppresses news from right-leaning outlets: Multiple MRC Free Speech America (MRCFSA) studies have exposed how Google has suppressed right-leaning websites in search. Statista tracks the number of user visits leading news websites receive. Daily Mail is consistently one of the top news sites on its report. AllSides.com lists Daily Mail as a media outlet having a political bias on the right. MRCFSA researchers conducted a Google search for "Kamala Harris presidential race 2024" on Oct. 8, 2024. The first page of search results that Google displayed did not include a story from Daily Mail. Results on the first pages only displayed news outlets with a left-leaning or leftist political bias.

Search engine optimization blog Backlinko reported that "The #1 Result In Google Gets 27.6% of All Clicks" and it has “10x higher [Click Through Rate] compared to the #10 result.” Astoundingly, less than one percent (.63%) of users click through to the second page of search results, underscoring the importance of positioning on the first page of search results. Other studies, like one conducted in 2020 by Sistrix, show similar results.
