The Daily Caller

The Daily Caller, a right-wing digital news outlet, is reportedly having its Google search results suppressed, according to Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Ingersoll. Ingersoll noticed that when a user does both generalized and exact searches for a Daily Caller headline in Google's search engine, links to its site are nowhere to be found within the first 10 pages. Alternatively, doing those same searches on Google competitors DuckDuckGo, Bing and Yandex provides a link to the Daily Caller article in the very first search result. Danny Sullivan, Google's public liaison for search, replied to Ingersoll on Twitter, saying the issue was algorithmic and not unique to The Daily Caller even though he indicated just days earlier that he had only ever seen one other example of this ever occurring. The Daily Caller's in-house I.T. professional challenged Sullivan on Twitter. He argued that The Daily Caller's sitemap index is the same across all search engine platforms, yet it hasn't led to similar results as Google suggests it should.
