Facebook bans Australian MP for sharing 'misinformation about COVID-19': Following a week long suspension in February for posting misinformation about COVID-19, Australian politician Craig Kelly has now been permanently removed from Facebook for repeated violations of the same policy. “We don’t allow anyone, including elected officials, to share misinformation about Covid-19 that could lead to imminent physical harm or Covid-19 vaccines that have been debunked by public health experts,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement, according to The Guardian. “We have clear policies against this type of content and have removed Mr Kelly’s Facebook Page for repeated violations of this policy.” Kelley said he was "absolutely outraged" by Facebook's move to shut him down. “Firstly, they refused to tell me what they say is misinformation," Kelly said, according to The Guardian. "I stand 100% by everything I’ve posted. It’s not my random thoughts, it’s backed up by scientific evidence." Kelly is working on a bill that would require social media platforms to provide written notice before deleting any account, and could render fines of up to $100,000 for censoring political speech, The Guardian reported.
