Alpha News

Facebook reduces distribution and threatens to "unpublish" page of Minnesota daily news outlet Alpha News: After Alpha News, an outlet covering Minnesota news and politics, posted an anti-Hamas political cartoon on its Facebook page, the platform sent it a notice indicating the outlet's page would now have "reduced distribution and other restrictions, due to continued Community Standards violations." Facebook also told Alpha News's page that it was now "at risk of being unpublished" due to its continued violations. The notice was sent following the platform's removal of a political cartoon that Alpha News posted on its page, which reportedly violated the platform's policy on “Dangerous Individuals and Organizations.” The cartoon was critical "of Reps. Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for their commentary on the Israeli-Palestine conflict," Alpha News reported. The outlet reached out to Facebook to inquire about the purported numerous violations its page had previously incurred. "[W]e are not aware of any other violations and did not receive a response from Facebook when we inquired about what other Community Standards we have violated," said Alpha News in its report about the incident.
