It’s Episode 27 of CensorTrack with TR. This week we talked about how Big Tech is blocking posts that report on the Russia/Ukraine conflict and censoring content that stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people … all while allowing the murderous President of Russia to post freely online.
Instagram removed London artist Daniel Lismore’s homage to the Ukrainian people. Originally Lismore’s post contained, “You do not deserve this Russian monsters insanity,” but since it was reinstated, that sentence was removed. MRC’s Free Speech America team reached out to Instagram to clarify on whether that particular sentence was the cause of the removal. Instagram has yet to respond.
Twitter suspended the Ukrainian War Report account who had been posting “minute-by-minute” updates on the Russia/Ukraine conflict. Twitter also suspended Conflict News and it’s purported operator and podcast host, Kyle Glen’s, personal account. Both accounts were tweeting about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
While reports and sentiments about Ukraine are being shut down, erased, blocked and banned, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, the dictator who started this war, is just recently being monitored on social media. It took a full-fledged war for Big Tech to take action against Russia state-affiliated accounts like Sputnik and RT, Russia Today. President Donald Trump was censored 625 times before being permanently banned. In all, the MRC Free Speech America team found that there were approximately 38.7 million followers of these Russia state-affiliated social media accounts, as of Feb. 28, 2022.
