The journalist who authored the 2020 New York Post exposé on Hunter Biden's scandalous business dealings discovered on his "laptop from hell” reacted to a congressional hearing on censorship.
Emma-Jo Morris, now a Breitbart Politics Editor, spoke candidly about the Democratic Party’s blatant endorsement of Big Tech censorship on Newsmax’s The Balance with Eric Bolling on Monday. Morris described her experience while testifying before the Select Subcommittee on Weaponization of the Federal Government, during which she and Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faced lawmakers who advocated for the censorship of speech under the guise of combating so-called misinformation.
Morris referred to the ridiculous line of questioning by Democrats. “That hearing was absolutely surreal,” Morris said. She added, “There was a moment where we were each asked something to the effect of, ‘Do we think that there should be any circumstance where censorship is okay’ or something like that? I kind of got frustrated at that.”
Morris asserted she was stunned by the fact that a lawmaker was cheerleading for the violation of the First Amendment. “I just couldn't believe what we were really doing,” Morris added. “We're talking about boundaries of censorship or boundaries of speech—-and it's like, no, no, no, nothing, never! Unless obviously there's some sort of imminent danger. But to me, it's like, and I said this, I'm like, I can't believe that this is considered taboo.”
Rep. Stacey Plaskett (D-VI) received some of Morris’s rebuke. “And then you see Plaskett there, talking about untruths and the social media companies should have, you know the right and feel comfortable to censor. It's like no, no, no. No, they shouldn't. The pressure should be tremendous. The pressure should be extreme.”
Morris is no stranger to censorship as both Twitter and Facebook blocked her expose of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal from being promoted. Twitter ultimately banned the Post from tweeting unless it took the story down from the platform. Similarly, Facebook downgraded the story and barred users from sharing it. The onslaught of censorship subsequently tilted the election toward the candidacy of Joe Biden, according to an MRC Free Speech America poll.
