The Department of Homeland Security has been at the center of a firestorm with no end in sight.

In an episode of his Verdict podcast, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and co-host Ben Ferguson torched the Department of Homeland Security for associating Christian, conservative and Republican entities with neo-Nazis, as exclusively unveiled by MRC Free Speech America in a bombshell report.

Cruz, a vocal adversary of leftist indoctrination, blasted DHS for awarding $352,109 to the University of Dayton, which founded an infamous program named PREVENTS-OH.

Cruz blasted the Biden administration for radicalizing the Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Grant (TVTP), an Obama-era program that originally targeted Islamic terrorism.

“You might think, ‘Okay, [TVTP] is going after Al-Qaeda. This is going after Jihadists. This is going after, maybe it’s going after Klansmen. Maybe it’s going after Antifa. It’s going after people who engage in acts of violence and terrorism.’ Well, you’d be wrong. The Biden administration has awarded 80 grants through this program, totaling just under $40 million.”

One seminar, highlighted by PREVENTS-OH’s website, compared former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) to genocidal dictators. “These are the radicals that are being funded by the Joe Biden Department of Homeland Security,” Cruz said of the list of speakers at a TVTP-tied seminar.

The Texas senator particularly blasted presenter Michael Loandethal, a self-proclaimed Antifa member and research fellow at the University of Cincinnati.

“He is an extreme individual,” Cruz said of Loandethal. “If you look at his background, this lecturer, Loandethal, who at the time described himself as a medical worker who provided abortion services. So, he’s an abortion provider. He’s frequently retweeted Antifa accounts and defends left-wing violence on social media. That’s one of the guys presenting.”

Loandenthal’s presentation, which was scrubbed by PREVENTS-OH after MRC Free Speech America’s exposé was released, highlighted the now-infamous “Pyramid of Far-Right Radicalization,” which mixed The Heritage Foundation, the Christian Broadcasting Network and the Republican Party, among others, with fringe hate groups.

Cruz’s condemnation of the Biden administration was echoed by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), who chairs the House Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance. Biggs sent a damning letter to embattled DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas calling out the federal government for funding the outrageous program.

“DHS should under no circumstances award grants relating to combatting domestic radicalization to organizations and municipalities that lack the ability to discern between speech and legitimate political decisions they disagree with and domestic terrorism,” Biggs wrote in the letter.
