Tuesday's hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee sought to shed light on Big Tech censorship, but the left would prefer we pay no attention to what’s going on behind the curtain.

The left, of course, wanted to brush off the Nov. 17 hearing, which featured testimony from Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The liberal media claimed that it spread “misinformation.”

David Gilbert, a journalist for Vice News, tweeted: “During yesterday’s Big Tech hearing on election disinformation, @HawleyMO claimed a Facebook whistleblower tolf [sic] him FB, Twitter & Google coordinated censorship of conservatives. The claim was not true. But the misinformation spread widely online anyway.”

Gilbert said that Hawley’s questioning of Dorsey and Zuckerberg was “like a scene from a cheap Hollywood courtroom melodrama” in his article for Vice

The Washington Post reported: “The repeated hearings have given lawmakers a platform to air their grievances with Silicon Valley, but so far no meaningful regulation has resulted from them.”

The New York Times bemoaned that “In particular, Republican senators like Josh Hawley of Missouri, Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz of Texas focused on the unproven idea that Facebook and Twitter unduly moderated posts by conservatives, compared with the amount of time spent labeling or taking down posts made by liberals.”

Donna Smith, the chair of the National Advisory Board for the Progressive Democrats of America, said in a tweet, “Social media bias against conservatives is not real. Tune in to hearing tomorrow. Dems & Repubs should agree on holding social media giants accountable for hosting hate speech & dangerous content. Sec 230 must be updated. #BreakUpBigTech @pdamerica.”

Much of the hearing focused on Twitter’s censorship of the New York Post story that claimed to expose alleged corrupt dealings of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden in Ukraine. A recent post-election poll conducted by MRC found that 36 percent of Biden voters were not aware of this story.

Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives.
