Trump’s AI czar called out an artificial intelligence chatbot for pursuing “backdoor Woke AI” after hiring the “Biden AI team.”

President Trump’s AI czar David Sacks called out LinkedIn co-founder and billionaire Democratic mega-donor Reid Hoffman for his public praise of AI company Anthropic on Monday. Hoffman had recently revealed that a company where he is a partner has invested in Anthropic, the parent company of the Claude AI chatbot.

In the X thread in which Hoffman called Anthropic “one of the good guys,” he supported the claim by praising the company’s efforts to “deploy AI the right way, thoughtfully, safely, and enormously beneficial for society.”

Sacks pointed out the irony in Hoffman saying Anthropic is “one of the good guys” when he is “the leading funder of lawfare and dirty tricks against President Trump.” Indeed, Anthropic is also funded by the leftist Ford Foundation, another notorious peddler of woke propaganda.

After Hoffman rebuked Sacks, the Trump AI czar responded by explaining that the controversy with Anthropic has nothing to do with its AI safety, but rather with its woke agenda.

“The real issue is not research but rather Anthropic’s agenda to backdoor Woke AI and other AI regulations through Blue states like California,” Sacks wrote. “This is not surprising since Anthropic hired the Biden AI team, which gave us Biden’s Woke AI executive order and the Biden Diffusion Rule,” continued Sacks. He finally called out Hoffman for being among “the biggest Democrat mega-donors in tech,” including “Reed Hastings and Dustin Moskovitz” and for being “closely associated with [Anthropic].” He then stated that this fact is “likely not a coincidence.”

MRC released a study earlier this year exposing 57 Biden administration censorship initiatives, which included “Initiative #7: The Executive Order on the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence.” After Trump’s own executive order that took aim at Biden’s AI agenda, the Department of Commerce “initiated a rescission of the Biden Administration’s AI Diffusion Rule.” Sacks claimed that as a result of Trump’s rescission efforts, Anthropic has adjusted its efforts to target state-level AI regulation, such as SB 53 in California. Such state-level AI regulations could inevitably lead to nationwide regulations that support Anthropic’s agenda in order to comply with California’s regulations.

Like Sacks suggested about Claude, other AI chatbots appear to be toeing the Biden administration party line by pushing a leftist agenda. Google blamed the Biden administration for pressuring it to censor, while Meta admitted that it employed censorship in its products to appease the Biden administration’s demands.  For instance, in March 2024, after MRC exposed Google Gemini’s blatantly false information about personal savings rates under then-President and presidential candidate Joe Biden and then-candidate Trump. Google tried to claim its manipulation of information to favor Biden was only “confusion.” Gemini also previously made headlines for refusing to generate images of white men and expressing skepticism about the atrocities Hamas committed against Israel on October 7, 2023.

Meanwhile, in May 2024, MRC researchers caught Meta AI bending over backwards to defend arguments in favor of censorship.
