Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) torched the Justice Department and FBI for its comprehensive assault on Constitutional rights under the Biden administration.
Schmitt appeared on Fox News’s “The Ingraham Angle” on Wednesday, where he slammed former President Joe Biden’s FBI and Special Counsel Jack Smith for surveilling multiple GOP senators through its Arctic Frost investigation. During the interview, he characterized the DOJ’s actions as part of the Biden administration's broader effort to trample Americans’ free speech rights.
The senator told the show’s host, Laura Ingraham, “I also think what this is really about is they never forgave President Trump for coming down the escalator, right?” He continued by listing various scandals “And so this was all an effort, whether you use Russiagate [and] it's trying to sideline a presidency with impeachments, or it's the Hunter Biden laptop pre-bunking, or it's the censorship that started three days into the Biden administration, or Arctic Frost, or the prosecutions that happened under Jack Smith, Fannie Willis, Alvin Bragg.”
Indeed, MRC Free Speech America uncovered 57 Biden-era censorship initiatives, including the DOJ/FBI partnership and bilateral meetings with Big Tech executives to coordinate censorship of certain content (initiative 32).
The Twitter Files exposed how the FBI “primed” Twitter executives to recognize and censor the Hunter Biden laptop scandal exposed by the New York Post. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg similarly told podcast host Joe Rogan that the FBI warned his team ahead of time about supposedly fraudulent accusations against Joe Biden’s son.
Notably, an MRC survey found that 36 percent of President Joe Biden’s voters in swing states weren’t fully aware of the NY Post story that was censored by Big Tech. The censorship shifted the 2020 election in Biden’s favor as 13 percent of voters who didn’t know about the scandal admitted that had they known these facts, they would not have voted for Biden.
Schmitt noted that Biden’s deep state censorship cartel was a backdrop to Smith’s surveillance effort. He emphasized, “All of it was meant to sideline a movement that threatened permanent Washington and their grip on power. That's what this is all about. They know it, and there ought to be consequences.”
