Anti-free speech platform Bluesky repeatedly censored users affirming that there are only two sexes, but has allowed numerous users to post celebrations of Charlie Kirk’s death.
Indeed, multiple calls for more assassinations remain on Bluesky, alongside violent, vicious and crass celebrations of TPUSA Founder Charlie Kirk’s tragic death. After Kirk was fatally shot Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University, Bluesky’s censorship hypocrisy was on full display.
There are so many dozens of comments still up on Bluesky celebrating Kirk’s death or calling for other assassinations that it is all but impossible to cover all of them, but a few examples will illustrate the issue.
Anri or “lesbianjesus” posted a whole series of hateful and violent screeds, including: “cheers,” with champagne emojis; “J.K. ROWLING NEXT;” an image of a prone anime character with the caption “ben shapiro in his apartment next week;” and also, a disturbing rant, stating, “the funny thing is i don't believe there's anything else to discuss about the situation, i've literally said all i had to. this man's life was genuinely so worthless you can summarise it all in a handful of skeets. a worthless man died and no one grieves him, people only celebrate; the end.”
Gallifreyan Jedi posted, “Some F[*]cking Nazi: *dies*,” with a rant seemingly suggesting that it doesn’t matter if people who support Israel and oppose transgenderism die.
User “June!” posted vile sexual comments after the shooting; reported excitement after watching the video of the assassination; requested, “Matt Walsh next please;” and even gravestomped Kirk, asking, “do you know how expensive the coffin will be so they can customize it fit his bigass head?” June! also despicably wrote, “She call me Charlie Kirk the way she make my throat explode.”
User “romulus - Patapon” posted: “Nintendo announced an hour long direct -Charlie Kirk died” with a cartoon of a smiling stick figure saying, “Holy Sh[*]t! Two Cakes!”
User “Brûlée AFC” shared a meme of a beaming star with balloons with the words,“FASCIST DOWN!”
Wild Oranberries, meanwhile, urged, “Trump next.”
Despite its Community Guidelines, which ban “glorify[ing] violence or harm,” Bluesky has allowed all of these posts to remain up on Bluesky as of Thursday. Yet, the same platform censors speech regarding biological facts.
V.H. Mansurion posted on Bluesky Nov. 20, 2024, “There are only two sexes.” A screenshot showed that his post was removed and he said he was banned.
Similarly, @hardmaru posted “There are only two genders” in November 2024, and Bluesky immediately blocked the content.
Minutes after Vice President JD Vance created his Bluesky account in June, and just after he had posted about a concurring opinion in the U.S. Supreme Court decision to uphold Tennessee’s ban on harmful “transgender” procedures for minors, the platform suspended him. Bluesky subsequently reinstated Vance and claimed, “Vice President Vance's account was briefly flagged by our automated systems that try to detect impersonation attempts which have targeted public figures like him in the past.”
