The globalist World Economic Forum is pushing governments and Big Tech to enact an even harsher “whole-of-society” crackdown on freedom of expression.
In a July 21 article published by the Forum, WEF Governance and Trust Head Daniel Dobrygowski and Institute for Strategic Dialogue CEO Sasha Havlicek provided recommendations on how to better crush free speech. They argued for a “whole-of-society” approach to suppressing so-called “disinformation,” that “integrates media and information literacy into education systems, workplace training, public service messaging and digital platform design.”
Dobrygowski and Havlicek dramatically opined that “Disinformation is a more complex challenge than ever, amplified by technologies such as generative AI.” Disinformation is often a euphemism for speech that runs counter to the mainstream narrative promoted by governments and their entrenched institutions. And WEF could ensure its pernicious attack on free speech is implemented on tech platforms, since it lists Meta, Google, TikTok’s Chinese parent ByteDance, Apple, Amazon, PayPal and Microsoft among its partner organizations.
The authors argued that not enough has been done to counter such alleged disinformation, lamenting: “Despite its recognized importance, media and information literacy efforts remain fragmented. There is also a lack of coordination, long-term evaluation and resources, particularly outside the education sector.”
But Dobrygowski and Havlicek went on to urge Big Tech, educational institutions, and media to band together to censor free speech. “Platform design, algorithmic incentives, journalistic standards and the resources allocated for media literacy all shape the information environment in which disinformation thrives,” they asserted.
The authors also advocated for political action. “National, subnational and international regulations define the legal and structural boundaries for action,” Dobrygowski and Havlicek wrote. Such policies would ensure “systemic responses” to so-called “disinformation,” or speech with which WEF disagrees.
The two decried “disinformation campaigns” that become “sophisticated and pervasive,” while also insisting on a multipronged response that targets not only children but adults.
Furthermore, they wrote, alleged disinformation must be addressed at every stage, from pre-bunking or the “pre-creation” of content that is not yet available to the public, to dictating how platforms distribute content, and determine how “interventions” can reduce engagement. This is all leftist code for censorship.
Since WEF partners with Big Tech companies, including Meta, Google and Amazon, along with officials from dozens of governments, this comprehensive censorship plan could realistically be implemented.
WEF also has a track record of endorsing censorship. For instance, in January 2024, it released a hypocritical and hysterical “risk report” that warned of alleged “misinformation” from artificial intelligence ahead of elections in a number of countries. Back in May 2022, a WEF panel pushed a “recalibration” of “freedom of speech” online.
