Google’s latest update ties its biased artificial intelligence and search engine even closer together in a move that could consolidate its censorship efforts even more.
Indeed, Google’s search engine has censored and suppressed right-leaning outlets and websites in its search results, while the tech giant’s artificial intelligence has shown itself to be equally biased, as MRC has repeatedly exposed. In spite of these problems, on July 16 Google announced on X, “New advanced AI capabilities are coming to Search.”
It appears the new feature will make “AI Mode” available not merely at the top of search results but also as a search filter option similar to the news, images or shopping search filters.
While Google went on and on about the new features the update would provide, it did not address the issue of the extreme bias and censorship of its search engine and AI which taint the value of Google’s latest update.
MRC Free Speech America has repeatedly exposed Google search for providing only leftist sources in top search results. This was especially true for major 2024 candidates, including presidential race opponents Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Even after the election, Google Search displayed biased results for Trump’s nominees for cabinet and various other positions, including now-Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and now-FBI Director Kash Patel.
In January, for the third year in a row, MRC caught Google promoting abortion giant Planned Parenthood in search results for the words “pregnancy” and “pregnancy help.”
Google AI is no better. Just before July 4, for instance, Gemini asserted that Independence Day celebrations and the Pledge of Allegiance could be “offensive” to some individuals.
Most recently, on July 16, the very same day that Google made its announcement, MRC revealed that the search giant adjusted AI-generated replies to defend a Texas NPR affiliate that did not not post timely alerts and reporting during the recent deadly Texas flooding. Google shielded NPR, even as Congress prepared to vote on defunding the leftist outlet.
