Pro-free speech platform Rumble just got a boost, reportedly thanks to President Donald Trump.
Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski posted on X that the censorship-obsessed Brazilian government has loosened its authoritarian online regime enough to allow Rumble in the country. Meanwhile, the Trump White House is establishing a presence on the video platform that rivals Google’s YouTube.
Pavlovski posted on Feb. 9, “Rumble, a US company is now fully operational in Brazil. I give credit to @realDonaldTrump winning in November. Brazil’s move to rescind their censorship order on Rumble is proof the world is changing. President Trump is making the world great again. Thank you President Trump.” The official Rumble account posted, “Hello Brazil[.] We’re back.”
Brazil has garnered international attention after one of its Supreme Court justices, Alexandre de Moraes, aggressively insisted Elon Musk’s X, Rumble and other social media platforms censor users or face hefty fines. Pavlovski reportedly responded to Brazil’s censorship demands in a letter to Rumble users in September 2024. At the time he said, “World powers don’t want Rumble, they don’t want X, they don’t want Telegram, and they don’t want Truth Social. They want to control information, but our companies won’t let them.”
It seems that the Brazilian launch is not the only way that Trump boosted Rumble. Fox News was the first to report that the Trump White House now has a Rumble account. Pavlovski enthusiastically commented, “We are extremely proud that Rumble is now a small part of White House outreach.” The administration cited “free speech and transparency” on Rumble as part of its decision.
